Taka wanted to fish all day, so our plan was to go first to Puddingstone, and then try out a new lake later on. We ended up fishing three different lakes today. We arrived at Puddingstone at around 8:30 am. Most action was at Puddingstone where the fish were chasing shad for over 2 hours, sadly only one fish was caught. I actually lost one also while reeling my lure up to cast again; a bass decided to take it a foot away from shore and needless to say, I missed it.
At the 2nd lake which was new to both of us, Taka ended up catching his first bass in 2 weeks! Also topped it off with a bluegill, his first ever from CA.
We arrived at the 3rd lake at sunset and fished probably only 30 minutes before it got too dark, so we called it a night and plan on returning there soon.

I Love Hard Lures...
Just got my other Jackall rod in last week and even though I'm not a big fan of hard lures, I'm slowly starting to love it. Got a few lures from Japan again and already caught a few fish on them. Here are pictures from a few outings...
Rod: Jackall VCM-CAST 68
Reel: Shimano Curado 200 E5
Lure: Jackall Squad Minnow 95 "HL Wakasagi"
Rod: Jackall VCM-CAST 68
Reel: Shimano Curado 200 E5
Lure: Jackall Cherry 1 Footer "Purple Monican"
Rod: Jackall Poison Heritage VCM-CAST 68
Reel: Shimano Curado 200 E5
Lure: Jackall Squad Minnow 80 "Hasu"
"Match the Hatch" Bass were eating shad up for over 2 hours, I threw plastics, topwater, cranks, finally catching a tiny shad. Stuck with the "Hasu" color lure that closely resembles the shad in shape, size, and color and land this a few casts after.
I am starting to love hard lures!

It's been a tough two weeks
I haven't caught a fish in over two weeks, during that time, I lost 2 HUGE fish on my new Jackall Poison Heritage rod. I thought that rod was cursed, I also missed 2 more fish on the rod setting the hook too early. Today however, I was able to get one!
Rod: Jackall Poison Heritage "Hyper Approach" HC-68MH
Reel: Shimano Core 100Mg (12# Seaguar InvizX Fluorocarbon)
Lure: Jackall Sasuteki Craw (Pumpkin Pepper)

Fishing today was slow
Decided to fish a lake I haven't been to in a while. I've been lucky there in the past with finesse techniques, but I dedicated my time to using the Sasuteki Craw there. Color choice was a Green Pumpkin Pepper craw color with brown and purple skirt. This color seem to stand out pretty well in this lake. Actually had a bite on it, but I set too early instead of letting the fish take it in a bit more. That's another fish lost on the new rod... BTW, my favorite lake is closed for the weekend due to a kids fishing derby.
I didn't throw the flick shake much.
Galaxy burger after fishing, yum

One day it's cold and raining, the next day it's hot!
Went out today for 2 hours in the scorching hot sun. It's funny that yesterday was cold, gloomy and raining, and today it's hitting 90 degrees. Got to love this beautiful California weather. I instantly got hit on my Jackall Dum Dum Hog and miss the set. Threw out my Sasuteki Craw, and get hit a few minutes later, set the hook and miss! One of the craw legs went missing. I fished that spot for the next hour finally getting the girl to bite once more! 4 lbs on the dot!
For those of you wondering, this is all the tools I use to rig my Sasuteki Craw. I got the idea as mentioned before from Hata Takuma, a Japanese Pro Bass fisherman, who is sponsored by Zappu and Jackall Bros.
Items:
-Jackall Sasuteki Craw 4"
-Spinnerbait/jig skirt (trimmed)
-River2sea Tungsten Bullet Weight (anywhere from 3/16 up to 1/2 depending on grass)
-Decoy Japan Texas Stop Medium
-Worm rattles
-Owner TwistLOCK hook 3/0
Finished product looks like this:
They seem to love this particular color set up.
This color scheme works well in stained water

My new favorite lure...
Jackall Sasuteki Craw!
It was released in the U.S. a couple months ago, and since then, I've been getting tons of fish on it. I fell in love with the Texas Rig all over again. I saw a video of Hata Takuma using this lure. Hata Takuma is a Japanese Pro Bass fisherman and I believe it was him who invented this lure. One particular way he rigs is it with a skirt seen in this video.
Here is my version of it:
I've recently been doing this with huge success, one being a 6 lb 2 oz fish!
You can purchase the Jackall Sasuteki Craw at www.TackleWarehouse.com

August Top 5
Here are my top fish for August... little late for the post but haven't fished much September since I gotta finish college (I'm on the 8 yr plan currently lol)
4 lbs 9 oz On Jackall Flick Shake Worm 5.8
2 lbs 10 oz on Jackall Flick Shake Worm 5.8
3 lbs 10 oz on Jackall Flick Shake Worm 5.8
3 lbs on Jackall Sasuteki Craw
Didn't have scale this day, Last fish of August, I'm calling it 5 lbs since I don't want to overestimate, but it's definitely bigger than the 5 lb fish I caught the month before. We'll say 5 1/2 lbs
Jackall Sasuteki Craw...
Total weight for top 5: 19 lbs 5 oz (not bad for a city park fisherman!)
Flick shake gear:
Shimano Cumara CUC68M
Shimano Chronarch 50mg (The Core 50Mg in currently sitting on the rod)
Sasuteki Gear:
Shimano Crucial CRCX66MH
Shimano Curado 200 E7 (Switched out reel yesterday and mounted the Core 100Mg)
4 lbs 9 oz On Jackall Flick Shake Worm 5.8
2 lbs 10 oz on Jackall Flick Shake Worm 5.8
3 lbs 10 oz on Jackall Flick Shake Worm 5.8
3 lbs on Jackall Sasuteki Craw

Who fishes in 100+ Degree Weather?
I do, and despite the killer heat, I had a great day at the lake and in the process I caught three fish. Fishing like this can take a toll on you so wear shorts and bring lots and lots of Gatorade. I had 4 bottles by the time I was done.
First fish came off of my favorite technique, Wacky Rig! Was a tiny guy but it fought well.
Second fish was the big one of the day weighing at 3 lb 9 oz. It looked closer to 4 lbs but I'll go with what the scale says. It was also caught using a Jackall Flick Shake worm.
Third and last fish came from the new Jackall Sasuteki Craw Texas-Rigged. What a brute! Pulled and jumped all over the place! Didn't weigh this one, but looks to be 2 1/2 lbs Enjoy the pictures:

Been a while but I'm still catching!
Today I hit up one of my favorite local spots that usually produce many bites and small bass. Started with a Black and Blue Chatterbait 3/8oz, and within minutes (probably 5th cast or so) a bass nails it hard! My Phenix X-10 Crankbait stick guided the bass out from the weeds and I lip it after a good fight for my first ever chatterbait fish! Looks like I'll be buying more colors!
There was some sort of picnic and kids started to surround me while I was fishing and didn't leave room for me to cast or so. I started pitching a sexy shad roboworm for another fish (no picture). By now, more kids gathered and started annoying me about why I release fish. "You should keep it, I would!" and my personal favorite, "Why do you fish if you don't keep em?"
My third fish was the biggest of the day; a solid 2 3/4 lb fish, also caught with a sexy shad roboworm. This fish fought great and it took a while for me to guide it to an area I can lip it without having it lay on the grass. Asked one of the kids to take a picture of it, guess they were useful afterall.
My 4th fish today was also on the same robo and was under 2 lbs, but I hooked it nearly 2 seconds after my worm touched water and since it was far out there, it was a great little battle. All this was in an hour, and even though the bite was off the hook, I decided to leave when the adults started looking at me catching. I didn't want them to return and perhaps keep the fish.

Follow your Instincts
Yesterday I had to make a decision as to what lake to fish. I first planned on going to the city park, but then decided to go to the bigger lakes. I haven't fished the city park in a while so I decided to go with my first choice.
Met up with the regulars there, cast, clean up some grass caught in my rig. On of my buddies misses a fish on the Ika and tells me to cast where he misses, he tells me further, reel it back in and cast exactly where he told me to. within 10 seconds, solid hit! I tell him it feels nice but not too big, and say thanks for the fish! It then shows it's muscles as it strips line on my Shimano Core, and jumps into the air! SOLID FISH that looks at least 6 lbs! I get it near shore and it pulls hard to the right, bring it back close, then it pulls hard again! This time it burys itself into the weeds. I had to wait it out since I love finesse fishing and I only have 8 lb line. After three attempts at getting into the weeds I finally tire it and bring it close to shore, but at that time it already wrapped me in a pound of weeds, I'm reeling in dead weight with the grass and a lunker bass on the end of the line. Lip it and it's not quite 6 but definitely 5 lbs! Get the scale and sure enough, exactly 5 lbs! Biggest fish for me at that lake, and it only took 3 casts!
Fish was caught using a 6" Roboworm Sexy Shad Color, drop shotting. My rod was a Shimano Cumara CUC68M, reel was the Shimano Core 100mg, with 8# Seaguar INVIZX Fluorocarbon. I love the Seaguar line!
