Jackall Boil Trigger

Jackall's new finesse jointed top water lure. The lure is perfect for bass that are attacking the baitfish. What makes this lure unique is the way it was designed. When dead sticked, the lure lays on its side, imitating a dying baitfish. The two piece design increases the wounded action of the lure. Depending on how hard you pop it, it can either create a nice boil or subtle ripples in the water. At only 77mm, this lure is meant to be thrown with light line, preferably spinning tackle.

It's Been a While

Sorry about the lack of updates. I've been in Australia for 3 weeks for a family vacation. Also found a new hobby... cycling. Here's a pre Birthday fish. A little birthday present to myself the day before my birthday...

Tweaking Plastics...

Tweaked a plastic craw and this is the result of three casts

When fishing pressured ponds, bass become accustomed to the lures thrown by everyday people. To gain an advantage; spice up your plastic! There is no need to buy the newest products. Tweak your old lure by perhaps making it slimmer, or removing excess appendages. Add a rattle, or make air pockets in it. All these will improve your old lure and make it a "new" lure. My tweaked plastic is still a secret, I'll show it in a few weeks.

NICE FISH

Just got back from the pond fishing with the buddies. I was able to land this on the P.D. Chopper + Ammonite Shad Combo. I must say, when they hit this combination, they hit it HARD. Try it out!

Social Networking

A few weeks ago I get a message on Facebook. A guy from Japan just moved to the US and saw my blog while searching Google. He messages me on Facebook to see if we can fish sometime. I was more than glad to fish and meet new friends who share the same passion as I do. Finally we meet at the park and he catches his first bass in the US. Later he thanks me via message, "Thanks man!! I could catch my FIRST BASS in here because of your help!!"
Well I only took him fishing, he caught the fish because he had the correct presentation and lure. He caught his all on his own... no need to thank me. Good Job Akihiro (Aki)!

First Topwater Fish of the Year.

Had a few hours to kill couple of days ago, I know the topwater bite is coming along. This fish bit as I was talking to my girlfriend. Probably was a blessing since it allowed the fish to take it longer.

Few from this week

Here's a couple from last outing using the P.D. Chopper + Ammonite Shad combo. As you can see, the first fish destroyed the lure. I put what was left back onto the jig and few minutes later, land a larger fish.

Fishing with the buddies

Spent a few outings fishing with the friends Hideto and Takafumi.

Taka got this one and saw a huge female bass right behind it. He tried to catch the female but couldn't. Maybe next time!

That is all for now!

Noritz Fundraiser Event

Noritz Corporation held a fundraiser to help support the recent disaster in Japan. For a donation of $10, you got a Dogzilla Hotdog (Japanese Inspired Hotdog), an Ice Cream Bar from Longboards Ice Cream, and a soft drink. It was a decent turnout despite the cold and windy weather.

Unfortunately, my friends from Japan who now live in California weren't able to attend the event. Dogzilla Hot Dogs then drove to serve the Orange County area and Corrina, Hideto, and Takafumi still wanted to try the hot dogs, so we braved the cold winds at night to go eat!
At first they only bought one hot dog, but it was so good they went back in line and bought another!

Takafumi enjoyed the hot dogs and even ordered some Garlic Fries! We will go and find the food truck again this Wednesday! So delicious! おいしい!!!

Personal Best!

New "Official" Personal Best! Weighed in at 7lbs 7oz. Looked nearly 8lbs to me but I go by the scale

Such an amazing fight to this fish! Fan casted an area and finally found the spot!

Just Look at that Belly!

This fish gave me such a big headache as I am still recovering from the brain surgery.

Thank you random stranger for taking a picture of me with my fish! So here's a picture of you with my fish!

As a rule, you must ALWAYS practice catch and release on all bass; not because this lake requires you to, but because it's also the right thing to do!

Surgery went well guys!

Surgery went as planned. It's been just over a week since I had surgery and I am almost at 100%. The photo above is me and my beautiful GF waiting at admissions at 4:00am in the morning. She made this poster for everyone to sign and I love it. What was initially thought to be an enlarged pituitary gland ended up being a Rathke Cleft Cyst, which shows us exactly the same as an enlarged pituitary gland on an MRI and basically gives the same symptoms.

The only problems I have now are the fact that since they operated through my nose, I cannot breathe at all with my nose, which forces me to breathe through my mouth only causing severe dry throat. Occasionally the blood will go down my throat too, which hinders my sleep at night as I wake up every 30-45 minutes to either drink water or cough up blood. Doctor is not allowing me to go back to work OR school, which is the sad part since I planned on graduating with my B.S. this semester. Health is better anyways. I like to thank you all for your prayers and kind words. I cannot thank you guys enough for keeping me in your prayers.

Am I in Heaven? I awoke to an angel! ;D My GF is also a nursing student and this gave her an opportunity to take care of me during my 2 night stay at the hospital
Even my little brother came by and signed my poster. He goes to school at UCLA which is walking distance from UCLA Medical Center
Lastly, today I went fishing. I know I'm not supposed to but some rules had to be broken i.e. driving and activities that need you to bend down and lift. Maybe I should listen because sometimes I still feel sluggish.

I finally have a surgery date!

*UPDATE: Surgery date rescheduled to Monday, March 7th! Time to get rid of my tumor...
It's strange that one day you can feel completely healthy, then the next day you can't even get out of bed without nearly falling down and getting extremely light headed at the slightest turn of the head. I guess in a way I'm glad this happened because the doctor said if it gets any bigger it can hit my optic nerve and cause some blindness. It already rearranged my carotid arteries according to what the doctors said.

I would like to thank all of you for the kind words; my family, friends, and even all the bass fishing people I know through blogs, twitter, and Facebook.

Thank You!

Fishing! The Best Medicine

About two weeks ago, I started to feel a bit light headed. It began at night and I thought it was because I was now overworked since picking up a 2nd job. The whole weekend came and it didn't get any better. Finally, after about three days of the headache not going away, my mom made the decision to take me to the hospital. Good thing! What they found was a tumor; an enlarged pituitary gland to be exact. Finally the headaches have subdued for now and I can resume normal activity but I will need surgery and yearly MRI checkups.

I can't be bummed out the remainder of my life however, I still have fishing! So in between classes at school, I headed to the local park for an hour of fishing. These are my first fishes since finding out I have a tumor. Fishing heals!
